Although the present building shows later stratifications, its foundation dates back to the 17th century (around 1600).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tradition has it that the shrine was erected in thanksgiving for the protection granted to the community of Miane. At a time marked by famine and pestilence, the faithful turned to the Virgin of Mount Carmel to preserve crops and the health of their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The location is no coincidence. The Sanctuary stands on a promontory overlooking the valley, a point that served as a spiritual \u201cbeacon\u201d for those working in the fields below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The spread of the cult of Carmel in this area was favoured by the presence of Carmelite religious in the neighbouring areas, who promoted the use of the \u201cScapular\u201d, a symbol of eternal protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udfa8<strong> Inside the Sanctuary: A treasure trove of folk art<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you cross the threshold of the <strong>Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel<\/strong>, one is struck by the \u201dnoise\u2019 of silence, interrupted only by the rustle of the wind in the arcades. Inside, attention is drawn to the\u2019<strong>High Altar,<\/strong> splendid example of 17th-century devotion, where the statue of the <strong>Virgin of Carmel<\/strong>. The gilded stuccoes and decorations reflect the candlelight, creating a cosy and solemn ambience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along the walls one can see signs of popular gratitude: small objects and testimonies left by the faithful who, over the centuries, have received a grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The works depict scenes from the life of Mary and saints linked to the Carmelite tradition, realised in a simple style but with great emotional impact, typical of churches on the \u201cborder\u201d between the plains and the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf8a<strong> The Feast of Carmine: July in Miane<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our guests staying at the Corte di Marga in mid-July will experience the most heartfelt event of the year, the Feast of Carmine; the liturgical feast falls on 16 July, but celebrations animate the village for several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The most evocative moment is the procession that starts from the Archpriest's Church in the centre of Miane and goes right up the \u201cStrada Vecia\u201d to the Sanctuary. It is a slow rite, punctuated by songs and prayers, retracing the steps of the fathers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the religious celebrations, Miane comes alive with food and wine stands where you can taste typical products (malga cheese, spit and local prosecco) and the ever-present Prosecco delle Rive.
