The path begins near the main car park (Bar Bianco area). The trail is wide and gently enters the beech forest, the same one that once provided the wood for the oars of Venice's galleys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The magic touch<\/strong> Along the route, you'll often find educational panels explaining woodland life, but the real attraction is the <strong>deer<\/strong>. It is the perfect place for a packed lunch or to take unique souvenir photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choosing the right path between Cimbri, Woods, and Mountain Huts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Big Giro (The Complete Ring of the Plain)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the actual hiking trail that encompasses the entire Cansiglio Plain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Who is it suitable for:<\/strong> Hikers, families with older children (10-12 years and up), or mountain bike\/e-bike enthusiasts. <strong>It's not suitable for pushchairs<\/strong> due to roots and disused tracks in the undergrowth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length and Duration<\/strong> Around <strong>12 km<\/strong> For <strong>3\u00bd to 4 hours<\/strong> on the actual path.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Pathway and References<\/strong> You start from the <strong>Sant'Osvaldo Refuge<\/strong> (near the Visitor Centre) and you follow the path that skirts the large pastures. It touches, in sequence, the <strong>Cimbrian Village of Le Rotte<\/strong>, it pushes north towards the nature reserve of <strong>Pian Austria<\/strong>, descends along the reserve of <strong>Valmenera<\/strong> (the absolute best spot for deer spotting) and returns passing through the <strong>Capanna Genziana Hut<\/strong> before closing at the starting point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. The Mini Giro (The Family &amp; Pushchair Variant)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For our guests with small children, infants in prams, or those simply wanting a relaxing stroll without exertion, this is the perfect route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Who is it suitable for:<\/strong> Families with young children (even 3-6 years old) and pushchairs (ideally with large trekking wheels).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length and Duration<\/strong> Around <strong>4.5 km<\/strong> For <strong>1 hour and a quarter<\/strong> a leisurely stroll.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Pathway and References<\/strong> It is a perfect and safe triangle that develops in the southern area of the Plain. You park at the <strong>Sant'Osvaldo Refuge<\/strong>, enter the paved, traffic-restricted forest road which leads directly into the charming <strong>Cimbrian Village of Vallorch<\/strong> (the famous wooden houses of the lumberjacks). From Vallorch, cut across the meadow along the flat, well-trodden path that leads to the <strong>White Bar<\/strong> (a mandatory stop for ice cream and cheese) and from there you return to the car park along the main road on a protected walkway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf66 The must-do stop: The White Bar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No trip to Cansiglio is complete without a stop at the <strong>White Bar<\/strong>. While you enjoy a board of local cheeses (the <em>Cansiglio<\/em> and the <em>Montasio<\/em> (they are sublime), children can run in the surrounding meadows or enjoy an ice cream made with the freshest milk from the cows grazing right in front of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udccd Not-to-be-missed landmarks during the day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Man's Visitor Centre and Museum (Piana del Cansiglio):<\/strong> An excellent starting point. Inside, there is a museum dedicated to the history of the Cimbri and local wildlife, which is very useful for explaining to children what they will see in the woods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>G. Lorenzoni Alpine Botanical Garden:<\/strong> It is just a short walk from the Sant'Osvaldo Refuge. It houses over 700 species of forest plants, with accessible elevated boardwalks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Cimbrian Village of Vallorch:<\/strong> A core of historic houses built entirely of fir wood according to the ancient tradition of woodcutters who arrived from Germany in the 1700s. The ideal choice for those looking for a proper lunch whilst sitting in comfort, with traditional mountain dishes. The pasta dishes with game sauces are extraordinary, as are the hot polenta with Schiz (the traditional grilled fried cheese) or the roe deer. It\u2019s very welcoming and perfect as a strategic starting or finishing point for both routes, as it\u2019s very close to the main car park. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cansiglio.eu\/agriturismo\/\">White Bar<\/a>:<\/em> <strong>In the centre of the plain:<\/strong> The absolute benchmark for those doing the short loop with children. It's perfect for a snack or a quick lunch without too many frills: it offers excellent hot sandwiches with the typical cheese, platters of local cured meats, and exceptional artisanal ice cream made with their organic milk. It has a huge meadow in front where children can run around within sight while parents relax at the outdoor tables. It also has a shop to buy Cansiglio Biologico cheeses to take home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Equipped Picnic Areas (The Total Freedom Option):<\/strong> If, on the other hand, you prefer to come and go as you please, without having to worry about opening hours or bookings, the area stretching from Vallorch to Bar Bianco is full of wooden tables in the shade of the beech trees. The perfect tip for guests at La Corte is to set off from Miane with a well-stocked rucksack, or to buy some fresh cheese directly from the Bar Bianco shop for an unforgettable picnic in the woods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Logistics and Parking:<\/strong> The largest and most convenient car park is around the Visitor Centre \/ Sant'Osvaldo Refuge. On summer weekends it fills up quickly, so we recommend arriving by 9:30 am.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recommended clothing:<\/strong> Trekking shoe or trainer with a sculpted sole. <strong>Note on altitude (1,000m):<\/strong> Compared to Miane, the temperature drops by about 6-8\u00b0C. Always bring a sweatshirt and a jacket for the children in your backpack; mountain weather can change quickly in the afternoon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Water<\/strong> There aren't many fountains along the forest trails, so it's best to start with your water bottles full from the car park.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"schema-faq wp-block-yoast-faq-block\"><div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1782831604699\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Where can I taste or buy the typical cheese of Cansiglio?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">For an authentic, zero-kilometre experience, we recommend a stop at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cansiglio.eu\/dove-siamo\/\">Cansiglio Dairy Centre<\/a> or in one of the many mountain huts scattered across the plain. Here you can taste fresh or aged Cansiglio cheese and the typical \u201cSchiz\u201d cooked on a griddle.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1782831733341\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Is it possible to explore the Cansiglio Forest by e-bike?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Absolutely. The Cansiglio plain is a paradise for e-bikes thanks to a network of well-trodden forest roads with moderate gradients. Charging points can be found at Bar Bianco or at the main refuges, and often there are also rental services for those who want to cycle without too much effort.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1782831765495\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Il periodo migliore per vedere i cervi in Cansiglio \u00e8 generalmente durante la stagione degli amori, che si verifica in autunno, tra settembre e ottobre. During the \u201crutting\u201d season, at dawn or dusk, you can hear the calls of the males echoing throughout the forest: a magical experience that we always recommend to our autumn guests.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1782831793861\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">The Cansiglio is located at an altitude of 1,200 metres. You can expect temperatures to range from -5\u00b0C to 20\u00b0C.<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">The Cansiglio plain extends to about 1,000 metres in altitude, but the surrounding peaks, such as Monte Pizzoc, reach 1,500 metres. Being around 750 metres higher than Miane, the temperature is noticeably cooler, with differences that can be as much as 6-8 degrees lower.
