But its strategic position also made it a victim of modern history. During the First World War, the castle found itself right on the Piave front<\/strong>. Subject to heavy bombardment, it was almost razed to the ground. Indeed, at the foot of the castle stands the historic Conte Collalto Winery<\/a><\/strong>, one of the oldest and largest wine estates in the area. The visit cannot be considered complete without a stop in their underground cellar.
