Despite being at high altitude, the starting point is easily reachable by car from Miane, following the road signs after the village of Combai. You will reach a scenic road that leads to the Malga Budui car park, where you will leave your car to continue on foot towards Rifugio Posa Puner (approx. 40 mins), the starting point of our route.
Walking along the ridges above Miane and Valdobbiadene is not simply a hike; it’s an experience of the “border”. On one side, your gaze glides south, caressing the patterns of the UNESCO Prosecco vineyards until, on clear days, it’s lost among the canals of Venice. On the other, to the north, the Belluno Dolomites suddenly loom, majestic and imposing. The ring that connects the Posa Puner Mountain Hut a Malga Mont it is the beating heart of this scenic beauty.
The starting point, Rifugio Posa Puner (1334 m), is much more than a shelter: it's an institution of the Treviso mountains. From here begins a ridge ride that follows the watershed of the Prealps. The path winds through very high pastures where the air is thin and smells of fresh grass and freedom. In this section, the “Stone” of the exposed rocks of Monte Cesen frames the “Silk” of the meadows which, in spring, are tinged with the colours of high-altitude blooms.
Following the ridge path, one crosses the Salvedella Nuova Bivouac to then reach the meadow basin of Malga Mont. This is where time truly slows down: the mountain pasture, with its unspoilt rural architecture, tells the story of transhumance and the heroic lives of shepherds. Just above, the summit of the Monte Crep (1346 m) offers the “luxury” of a breathtaking 360-degree view, making you feel small in the face of immensity, but finally a part of it.
It's a route that doesn't present extreme technical difficulties, but which offers a vibration of deep peace, far from the chaos, where the only sound is that of the wind caressing the grass.
This ring is pure visual poetry. The walk takes place almost entirely on the ridge, which means you'll be fortunate enough to see “two worlds” simultaneously:
The arrival point (and halfway point) is Malga Mont, a delightful place where the tradition of alpine pasture is still alive. Here you can taste local cheeses or simply enjoy the sun before taking the path back along the opposite side of the ridge, thus completing the loop towards Posa Puner.
