This loop trek from San Pietro di Barbozza is designed for those who find themselves in the Valdobbiadene area and want to go for a walk while enjoying very picturesque views and places. Below you will find the route with the most significant points to help you find your way around and not miss anything that the landscape has to offer.
Artistic designs It will certainly strike you as it accompanies you on this walk, serving as an emotional “waymarker”. The artworks are mainly concentrated in the initial section of the path from the piazza up towards the Rive alte, and you will see hands holding bunches of grapes, faces marked by time (reminiscent of our old winegrowers), and abstract shapes that evoke the movement of the wind among the hills.
Exposed to the elements, the sculptures change colour. The grey wood from the sun blends with the vine support poles (the “crepàli”), creating perfect chromatic harmony.
When I tell my guests about this walk, I highlight that Vignarte is proof that in these hills we produce not just wine, but culture; I like to dwell on a specific sculpture: the one representing working hands. It is the synthesis of heroic viticulture. Without those hands, these terraced hillsides would be nothing more than uncultivated woodland. Sipping a glass of Rive di San Pietro after seeing those sculptures completely changes the perception of taste: the wine suddenly becomes more ‘human’.
